Who are clear aligners suitable for?
Aligners are particularly suitable for mild to moderate misalignment in adults and older teenagers: overlapping teeth, gaps between teeth, or teeth that have shifted again after previous braces. For complex bite or jaw problems, we refer you to an orthodontist.
What does the treatment involve?
1. Consultation and scan. We discuss your wishes and use the intraoral scanner to make a digital 3D impression of your teeth, so no impression material in your mouth.
2. Digital treatment plan. You see in advance how your teeth will move step by step and what the expected end result is.
3. Wearing the aligners. You receive a series of aligners and switch to the next one every 1 to 2 weeks. Sometimes we place small tooth-coloured bumps (attachments) to help the teeth move better.
4. Check-ups. Roughly every 4 to 6 weeks, you come in for a check-up to review progress.
5. Keeping the result. After treatment, you receive a retainer wire behind your teeth and/or a night-time retainer, so your teeth do not shift back.
Costs and insurance
Aligner treatment at our practice costs approximately €2,250 to €3,500, depending on complexity. You receive a cost estimate in advance. Orthodontic treatment for adults is usually not reimbursed; some supplementary policies offer limited cover for orthodontics. For children, too, orthodontics is not covered by basic health insurance.
