What happens during a dental cleaning?
We first assess the health of your gums. We then remove tartar above and just below the gum line using an ultrasonic scaler and fine hand instruments, and polish away stains from coffee, tea or smoking. Finally, we explain how to brush and clean between your teeth, for example with interdental brushes. A cleaning usually takes 30 to 40 minutes.
Who carries out the cleaning?
Dental cleanings at our practice are carried out by our dental hygienists Joanne Dielingen, Issuara Lengams, Asena Çalişkan, Elanur Zeybekoglu and Chong Hye Wong. If we see deeper gum inflammation, we will discuss a more extensive gum treatment with you.
Costs and insurance
For children and young people under 18, dental cleaning is covered by basic health insurance. For adults, cleaning is charged per five minutes of treatment time; the national tariff in 2026 is €16.82 per five minutes. An average cleaning therefore costs €100.92 to €134.56. Supplementary dental insurance often reimburses this in full or in part.
