CBCT scan (3D dental X-ray) in Amsterdam West

CBCT scan

A CBCT scan (cone beam computed tomography) is a three-dimensional X-ray of the jaw and teeth. Whereas an ordinary dental X-ray gives a flat image, a CBCT scan shows the jaw in 3D. Florens Tandartsen has a CBCT scanner in its own practice in Amsterdam West, so you do not need to go elsewhere for this examination.

When is a CBCT scan needed?

We only take a CBCT scan when it genuinely adds something to the diagnosis or treatment. Examples include planning an implant, assessing a wisdom tooth that lies close to a nerve, detecting infections or root fractures, and assessing complex root canals.

Radiation

A CBCT scan involves more radiation than an ordinary dental X-ray, but generally less than a medical CT scan. We choose the smallest possible field of view and the lowest dose that allows the question to be answered properly.

Referral by your own dentist or specialist

Even if you are not registered with us, you can have a CBCT scan taken at our practice on referral from your own dentist or specialist. The condition is that our referral form has been filled in completely; your dentist can.

Costs
